I am so happy with the Christmas cardinal, and now the pumpkin. I will be a repeat customer. Count on it.

Wedding Wallhangings

I used your wedding paper piece patterns to make 2 wall hangings. One for my son & daughter-in-law married on 9-10-11 and one for my daughter and son-in-law, married on May 14, 2011. They were fun to make!

Stitch-U-Vina by Wanda Barkhurst
Here is my wall hanging for your gallery.  I started on her Superbowl Sunday when I downloaded the pattern.  I am gifting her to my sister, Cindy, who is a quilter as well.  She is a Valentine Day baby, so she will be receiving it this week.  When I got the main pattern done, it looked a little bare, so I added a paper pieced flying geese side border of button themed fabric.  As this was targeted at being an art project, I left the pattern paper inside thus eliminating the time I would have spent taking the little pieces of pattern paper out.   As well, the paper pattern gave it an additional “stiffness” that was very appropriate for the wall hanging.  Even though I used a fairly light background fabric, you cannot see any of the printing from the pattern.  I would have removed the pattern pieces if the printing from the pattern was going to show through the fabric choices.  In my case, it did not.
I did the backing based on a technique for finishing in a recent issue of
American Quilter (March 2012) page 39 by author Freida Anderson. With a fusible (Steam A Seam) application, this technique really enhances what I believe a lot of my friends are currently doing using this turning technique for art quilts. I was very pleased with the results, anyway!

Thanks again for the free project.  I do love your website. I went through the posted godmothers and I did not find my combo Godmother anywhere.  Stitch-U-Vina is truly unique.  Very cool.
